25 New Mummy Discoveries at
Virgen del Morro

On
the outskirts of Lima, a poor area known as Virgen del Morro has been the
cite of archaeological excavations since 1992. Recently 25 mummies were
discovered there, bringing the total mummy discovery at the excavations to
220.
The discovery site was the
location of Armatambo, a pre-Columbian city that dates between 1100 and
1400. The chief archaeologist, Daniel Guerrero has states that, "we
have discovered much information about the architecture and function of
the city itself."
