THE
FACTS:
In 1992, New York City art
dealer Frederick Schultz bought the mummified head of Amenhotep III for
$900,000.
In 1998, he sold the
head to a London dealer for $1.2 million.
In 2001, New York
authorities charged Mr. Schultz with buying and selling the pharaoh's head
illegally. Court documents suggest that Mr. Schultz knew that the head was
stolen when he acquired it in 1992.
His lawyer denies the
charge.
