A
Peruvian mummy found in a cave near Lupo in the Andes
Mountains has been displayed recently at the museum. In
the past, the Museum of Man has exhibited a number of Peruvian mummies. Typical of such mummies, the
Lupo body has been placed in a tightly flexed
position and accompanied by grave goods such as pottery jars and brightly
colored cloth. Though the mouth is open, the person did not die screaming; the
jaw bone simply relaxed after death.
