Completely remodeled a few
years ago, the Egyptian exhibit has never looked better. Gone are the pale
green walls and awful lighting that made everything ugly. Now,
well-designed and well-lit displays have been installed.
Major features are:

two reconstructed
burials (one from the First or Second dynasties, and one form
the Middle Kingdom).

the funerary chapel of
Hetepherakhet from the 5th dynasty

many human
mummies,
including three children's mummies and at least five adult mummies
-
a number of animal
mummies including a baboon, a dog, a fish, and a
reconstruction of an ibis
catacomb.
