Archäologische Staatssammlung Museum in Munich, Germany

The Archäologische Staatssammlung Museum in Munich, Germany, has a well-organized collection of early German finds (many pots and pieces of jewelry), including some interesting hoards.

Also notable is a mummy. In the past, it was identified as a bog body, a young woman from the 1600s who was apparently murdered and buried in Dachauer Moos, a German bog.

However, recent research has indicated that the mummy is South American from either Chile or Peru, brought to Germany in 1898 by Bavarian Princess Therese von Bayern. After World War II, the corpse was found in the ruins of the Anatomical Museum of Munich and identified as a bog body.

Thank you, Andi Franzkowiak, for updating this information.
