Shawnee: The
Mabee-Gerrer Museum of Art exhibits the only Egyptian
mummy in the state of Oklahoma.
According to the Tecumseh Countywide
News & Shawnee Sun newspapers, "Tutu, as the mummy is now
called, formerly was named Princess Menne. However, translation of the
hieroglyphics revealed her true identity. Tutu went to the Shawnee
Medical Center in 1991 to be x-rayed and those x-rays are available
for viewing in the gallery."
