The
Encyclopedia of Mummies by Bob Brier is an
up-to-date alphabetical listing of many mummies from
around the world that makes great easy reading. Brier covers famous Egyptian mummies (such as King
Tut) as well as mummies
of famous people (Lenin and Napoleon). He also presents information about mummies made
(accidentally and intentionally) in China, Italy, Peru, and the United States.
But the best part perhaps is all of the little details: Yummy Mummy
Candies or Mummies and Deadies (small bone-shaped hard candy).
Filled with
black-&-white photographs, including those of many rare mummies. Excellent reference
book for anyone who wants mummies at her/his fingertips! Two appendices
are included; one lists mummy films through 1993 while the other lists
museums with mummy collections. A 28-page bibliography and an extensive
index are also included. For older children (grades 4 and up) and adults.
