Chronicle of the Pharaohs: The Reign-By-Reign Record of the Rulers and Dynasties of Ancient Egypt

by Peter A. Clayton

Chronicle of the Pharaohs : The Reign-By-Reign Record of the Rulers and Dynasties of Ancient Egypt by Peter A. Clayton, an English Egyptologist, is the first book that I know of that narrates the lives of the pharaohs in detailed chronological order.  Pharaohs are organized by time period and each has a biographical account. Some are given one or two paragraphs (early pharaohs, for example); others get 10 pages (like Ramesses II). It is the perfect reference book for anyone interested in the lives of the pharaohs. By the way, many mummy photos are included.

A well-designed book (published by Thames and Hudson, a top-notch company) with 350 illustrations (130 in color). 224 pages.
