The
Royal Mummies by
G. Elliot Smith
is a reprint of a volume first published in 1912. This is an
essential book for anyone interested in the royal mummies of Egypt, in
that it contains extensive physical and archaeological descriptions of
the mummies found at Deir el-Bahri (1881) and in the tomb of
Amenophis II (1898).
Perhaps the most compelling part of the
book is the hundreds of black and white photos of the royal mummies.
These are some of the best photos you will ever see of Egyptian mummies,
and will give students a sense of exactly what the mummymakers did to
perfect their art.
Highly recommended.
