From a teacher in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

I wanted to thank you for maintaining the site on the Ice Man. I teach 9th grade history outside of Philadelphia, and we do a paper on the mummy. Your site is an excellent resource. Marc Epstein

From a teacher in London, Ontario

Greetings from Ecole Gabriel-Dumont in London, Ontario: Thirty-eight of my grade sevens are currently involved in an English course which features a unit on Restructuring Past Lives. I have just discovered your site and will direct them to it tomorrow. Thanks for making your site available to us. Madame Audrey Boler

  From Mary in the U.S.

Thank you for your stand on the pathetic remains of those two unfortunate women at the the Barbour County Historical Museum in Phillippi, WV!  As you say on your site, Mr. Hamrick obtained the two bodies from a nearby state mental hospital. To elaborate, according to an article in Goldenseal magazine a few years ago, they were "unidentified and unclaimed."  It's not hard to infer that those women's families dumped them at the hospital and forgot them, the attitude toward mental illness (and the limited knowledge of how to treat it) being what they were in the 19th century.  To display their mummified bodies for people to pay to look at adds insult to injury.  I said as much in a letter to Goldenseal right after the article was published, but evidently no one agreed with me.

I am a pupil in 1st year who lives in Scotland and I just wanted to say how helpful your site has been for my history project.  Written in a clear and understandable way, it is easy to say you have a definite talent. I now truly understand the story of Lindow man and have you to thank.

  From a librarian in Connecticut

We would like to include an active link to your website so that students may access the site more easily. We are very impressed with the quality of information on your site and hope you are gratified to know that our students will be utilizing the information that you have worked so hard to make available on your website.

From Andrew and Jill in New Zealand

I just wanted to tell you what an awesome site you have. My son is 6 yrs old and is fascinated by mummies, so we came and looked at your site. He's really enjoyed the stuff you have there!

From Jennifer in the United States

I really enjoyed your Mummy Tombs site! I was searching for information about Otzi and discovered it. Although National Geographic Kids doesn't have a recipe for making a mummy, it does have the directions for making a model Egyptian tomb--complete with mummy case, funeral objects, and tomb chamber. The site is located at http://www.nationalgeographic.com/ngkids/trythis/egyptiantomb/ . It's great for a class project. [Jennifer is a producer for nationalgeographic.com/kids.]

During my travels on the internet, it was my pleasure to come across your site. My compliments on a job well done. I am impressed by your accomplishments. May your talent bring you great success. I am a Psychic / Spiritual Advisor in Canada. I enjoyed perusing your pages. I wish you great joy and prosperity. You have many gifts. May all your days be happy ones. What can I say? You've made my day.

From Andrew in the United Kingdom

I have just discovered your pages while doing a Google search on Lindow Man, and I am writing to say how much I enjoyed them. I normally run a mile from 'children's books' - my children are all grown up - and I think that most archaeologists writing for children make the dreadful mistake of patronising them. But your pages are terrific - congratulations!

  From Michael in Georgia

I am an elementary educator in Georgia working with gifted students. I recently began assembling web sites and other references to implement an introduction to mummies with my fifth graders. Your site has been extremely helpful and should aid me in expanding the introduction into a full unit for next year. Thanks for the information! ANSWER FROM THE MUMMY TOMBS: I'm glad my site could be of help. This is exactly why I created it. Thanks for letting me know how useful it's been.

  From Keith in Hong Kong

I accidentally found your website after watching a documentary about the Capuchin monastery. I just want to tell you what a great website you have & your knowledge is impressive. I have read the question & answer column with great interest. Thank you & keep up the good work. I will come back regularly, to open up my field of vision. ANSWER FROM THE MUMMY TOMBS: Thanks for taking the time to write. I appreciate your comments.

  From Gretchen in Mexico

Thanks so much for your wonderful site! I spent all  day yesterday perusing it and oohing and aahing at the marvelous (and gruesome) tales.  My students are going to be studying a theme in their Houghton Mifflin reader about mummies, so I will start them  off with the scavenger hunt on your site.  A Mummy Day is definitely in the planning stages right now! Keep up the good work!  This is the kind of site that not only educates, but provides a lot of fun for students . . . and their teachers. ANSWER FROM THE MUMMY TOMBS: Thanks so much for writing. You made my day!  I'm glad your kids enjoyed the stories and the information.  I have a lot of fun doing the site. It takes a lot of time but it is educational for me, too. If you'd like to share any of your activities (the Mummy Day!) with other visitors to my site, please don't hesitate to send it to me. Best wishes to you and your students.

I am a grade 11 student in Nova Scotia. I would just like to say thank you, because you really helped my when it came to writing a history project this semester!! Thank you so much. ANSWER FROM THE MUMMY TOMBS: Thank you for writing. I am so glad that my website was able to help (that's why I made it). Keep on reading and writing (and learning about history)!

From Cara in the United States

I would not like to ask you a question; I would like to offer some thanks for your website on Egyptian mummies and the like.  It was very helpful in my Speech class, in which I was to give a six-minute informative speech.  Being a full-time high school student participating in sports and many extracurricular activities, it was your website that provided the most information that was understood easily.  My thanks, again.  ANSWER FROM THE MUMMY TOMBS: Thanks for the thank you. I appreciate your time and effort--and glad that my website could help out.
